About this site

Discussion of political issues without commitment to specific doctrines or political parties.

Politics for people

Our basic aspiration is to promote government of the people by the people for the people.
[See notes on origin of this slogan  ]       [See an elaboration of this slogan ]

Sad to say, this modest aspiration inevitably puts us in significant conflict with many of the policies and actions of all major political parties. On the other hand, making care of the people the overriding priority inevitably causes us to be rather more in sympathy with “left” leaning parties than those more inclined to the “right”.

Parties

This site seeks to address political issues on a non-partisan basis. It does not represent a political party and is offered to people of all parties and none.

We have no commitment to specific political parties. Indeed, we have a mild aversion to all political parties, because they are inherently exclusive and confrontational, because they either “win” elections or “oppose” the winners. And because they are in general deeply anti-democratic.

We believe in cooperation.

Doctrines

Discussion of political issues without commitment to specific doctrines.

Some notes on ismology (original version).

Scope

We aim to work towards much‑needed improvements in the way the UK operates, particularly in relation to

We aim to produce and publicise analyses of problems in all those areas, and proposals on how they might be addressed. We do not intend that this will be a complete, consistent, and fully costed, programme of action. We aim merely to provide elements which may be adopted in the programmes advocated by parties and by individual candidates.

The movement

We are happy to contribute to discussions of the subject, where we can, but have no wish to duplicate what is already done elsewhere.  So we would prefer to be an index rather than a primary source.  Here are links to some of the pertinent sources (news sites, bloggers, campaigning groups, etc.) of which we are aware.

Not just discussion

We are not a political party, but we do plan to be politically active.

  • We may offer endorsement and support to appropriate independent candidates in all elections.
  • We may offer endorsement of appropriate party candidates in elections.
  • We may offer opinions on specific policies, proposals and actions of political parties.
